Frequently Asked Questions
These are some common questions we receive, so we decided to put them here for your information. We will add to these as we receive more common questions.

1) How old do I have to be to attend Colossalcon?
Answer)
The Cleveland Colossal Convention is proud to maintain an all ages event. Any panels or events that are mature in nature are scheduled late in the evening and identification is checked at the entrance for any event that is age-restricted.

2) I’m a minor. Do I have to be accompanied by an adult?
Answer)
No. Some parents find it convenient to enjoy what the city of Cleveland has to offer while their child/ren attend the convention. Guardians won’t be required to purchase admission unless they choose to enter any of the function rooms (dealers’ room, movie rooms, etc).

3) How old do I have to be to rent a room at the hotel?
Answer)
Ohio law dictates that any hotel room must be rented by a person of 21 years in age. The person of 21 years in age does not have to stay in the room or even stay at the convention, but they must sign for the room upon registration.

4) Is there any security?
Answer)
We have an excellent security force (about 25 people) who operate 24 hours a day. Some are in plain clothes, but most are labeled as being a security member (in case you need to approach one for help). The Cleveland Colossal Convention has a security code of conduct in effect. We've never had anyone get hurt or arrested or anything like that. Our attendees have always been well-behaved and respectful.

5) Do I need to bring my own food?
Answer)
No. Although, if you are on a limited budget, you will probably find that bringing your own snacks and drinks will save you a lot of money. The location of the convention is surrounded by food establishments. In fact, there is a Wendy’s within safe walking distance. Traditionally, Colossalcon has had a ramen booth that also serves drinks. Japanese snack foods can be purchased in the dealers’ room as well.

6) I purchased pre-registration admission. What do I need to bring to the con?
Answer)
A print out of your paypal transaction (if you purchased online) or an ID if you purchased via mail. If you bought multiple pre-regs, just bring information pertaining to the person who purchased them. If mom bought 4 pre-regs for you and your friends and she won’t be there, just let us know (it’s no big deal).

7) Does the hotel charge to park?
Answer)
No. It’s free to park.
